as we all struggle to have victory in our lives and repair the damage done by our sexual addictions i believe it would be important to get a clearer picture of who God is and how He sees us.

please take part in the following poll and feel free to comment.

thanks,
peter

"God has an incredibly high view of people. God believes that people are capable of amazing things. I have been told that I need to believe in Jesus. Which is a good thing. But what I am learning is that Jesus believes in me. I have been told that I need to have faith in God. Which is a good thing. But what I am learning is that God has faith in me."

please vote on the above statement

I am not sure just what you mean by "God believing in me" but I can tell you that Father God does love you as a son/daughter. He loves you like the loving father that even if/when you do something wrong {sin} he will forgive you. He proved this by letting Jesus become "human" to be the perfict sacrifice for our atonement. That Jesus prayed for junkyearboy, and for each of us, when he was in the garden. See the night he was betrayed in John.

All through the Bible God only ask one thing of us that believe on him. He kept repeating it and repeating it from Gen, thru Revalations. "Come back to me." Read the 7 churches in Rev., or any of the prophets in the old testament. When King David commited sin, and he did many, he kept running back to God for forgiveness. God spoke of David "as the aple of his eye". You are a flower on this side of our High Preist in the order of Melchizedek, Jesus, who prayes all the time for us. see Heb. 7.

A picture of "who God is" God is the only and He is the Truth. For the "greatest of these is Love, and He is Love.

I had to disagree with the statement. God is beyond words, and is more than we know. One very important thing that I think most people don't realize, or maybe just don't think about, is that God is self sustaining. God doesn't need us in any way whatsoever. If every single person in this world rejected Jesus and we all got what we diserved and we went to hell, God would be just as happy in heaven.

That may seem harsh but that's how it is. Think of how many people do go to Hell. Do you think God is sitting in heaven sulking because they didn't come to a saving faith? I really don't think so!

God doesn't need me. He doesn't need my faith, and he certainly doesn't need to believe in me, I am dirt, I am wretched, I am nothing. I have nothing to offer a totally self-sustaining, omni-present, all-knowing, everything God.

That is what makes the Cross so much more amazing. He didn't need to save me to be happy, but He did it anyway because He loves me that much. It boggles the mind, to think of, but I was an enemy of God, yet He loved me. He didn't have to but He did it anyway. What amazing love.

I think Christians thinking they are more important than they are is one of the major downfalls to modern Christianity. God is everything and we are nothing. I think coming to that realization helps in the recovery process.

I agree "somewhat" but only in the fact that God does not "need me" and He being a just God will condemm me if I do not come to Him.

That is the message all through the Bible from Genesis to Revelation He keeps asking us WONT YOU PLEASE COME BACK TO ME. Read the 7 churches and anywhere else and you can find that message throughout both the old and the new.

As Augustine says in his, On Christian Doctrine: I am to enjoy Him, as in knowing where my blessings come from, and to use the rest of the world, as telling them so they can enjoy God also. God on the other hand uses us, because there is nothing I can give Him that He is in need of.

That is a very short sanopsises {sorry for spelling} of what the first book tells us.

Does He cry for us when we wont, I believe it greaves Him greatly. I see that in the Bible. We are like the wife of Hosea 1:2. That is us He is speaking about as "the land".

If He must send me to hell for my actions, yes He will still be happy in Heaven with those that knew and loved Him. That is why His Son, Jesus, did what He did. Loving us as his enemy to make us brothers/sisters in Christ.

Augustine, On Christian Doctrine: this is free on the internet great reading.

Billy, I find your point of view is too harsh.  God does need us but we don't know why.  We can be humble about that.  Don't write off the crowning glory of God's creation.  Guitarist63
