I would like to wish all of you a happy and blessed Thanksgiving Day.
Our pastor's message at church last night was an acronym for thanks.
Trials--as we are told in James 1, are still something for which to be thankful.
Holy Spirit--God's living presence, guide, and comforter.
All things--both spiritual and material. After talking about some of the things for which people tend to be thankful, he had the lights turned out. Then he pointed out that even though we could not see those or things for which we are thankful, they were still there. His point was that even when the enemy blinds us, those people/things are stil there.
News of the Gospel--God's written Word, which we take for granted, but people like William Tendale gave their life for us to have in our common languages.
Kingdom--Christ's earthly reign which is promised, and for which we are to long.
Son--without whom we would still be hopelessly lost in our sin.
