Hi guys

There are some things that I don't understand. It happens that people tell that they trust God or that they should turst God more: How do you do that? How is that in practice?

I trust God by following the leadings I wrote about just now in your other thread.  I also trust God by not fighting temptations, but instead by noticing them, stepping aside from them, and asking God to take charge of them.  I admit that they are stronger than I, I affirm that my desire is to do God's will, and I ask God to make that possible by handling the temptation that I can't.  And then I don't think more about it.  That means leaving myself vulnerable, not trying to defend myself, but rather relying on someone else for my safety.

All this would have seemed crazy to me before I got into recovery, but these practices are keeping me sober a day at a time.

As I said in your other thread, this is just my experience, not the particular teaching ofanybody else.  There are slao many ways in which my outlook has gotten much less clearly Christian in the past couple of years.  If someone wishes to question whether I belong on a Christian board saying these things, I'll cheerily agree with the concern.  So take this as no more than the musings of one probably confused seeker after the path.

How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord,
is laid for your faith in his excellent word!
What more can he say than to you he hath said,
to you that for refuge to Jesus have fled?

"Fear not, I am with thee; O be not dismayed!
For I am thy God, and will still give thee aid;
I'll strengthen thee, help thee, and cause thee to stand,
upheld by my righteous, omnipotent hand.

"When through the deep waters I call thee to go,
the rivers of woe shall not thee overflow;
for I will be with thee, thy troubles to bless,
and sanctify to thee thy deepest distress.

"When through fiery trials thy pathway shall lie,
my grace, all sufficient, shall be thy supply;
the flame shall not hurt thee; I only design
thy dross to consume, and thy gold to refine.

"The soul that on Jesus hath leaned for repose,
I will not, I will not desert to its foes;
that soul, though all hell shall endeavor to shake,
I'll never, no, never, no, never forsake."

Friend

That was just a hymn I like to share with you that I think talk alot about how we can trust God during difficult times in our life. I hope it can benefit you somehow...But if not, you can totally disregard it.

God bless!
