Is there any sure way to block porn from a computer or iphone? I don't have a computer at home but I would like to get one except I can not trust myself. Hasn't someone invented a way to block it from a home computer? I also had to give my iphone away because it has access to the internet and I didn't want to be tempted. Is there anything that could block porn from an iphone?

I just want to say I really applaude you getting rid of the things that you know will be a stumbling block to your recovery!

I haven't used blockers for many years, but my sense is that no blocker is, as you say, "sure". A determined person can get around anything. So while software solutions can be useful tools in accountability and in slowing one down, they are only adjuncts to inner change.
I keep coming back to the alcoholics and drug addicts who get sober without any blockers. Whether we use blockers or not, I think we have to emulate their recovery as we seek for our own.
Just my uninformed humble opinion, of course.

Hi Acceptance,
Filters are only effective if you have someone you trust to administer them for you and safeguard the password.
As Tim pointed out, they are mostly a stop-gap measure during toddling steps of freedom.

While I understand the sentiments expressed in the previous posts, filters indeed don't really fix anything, they can be an important front-line tool in recovery.
I just don't want Acceptance to feel discouraged from getting a filter. I never poo-poo them for that reason.

I agree. My only quibble was with the phrase "sure way to block porn", which seemed to ask for a level of performance from filters that would let us quit there. I think that's more than any technical tool can offer us.
