I would like to make a few comments on this particular article: http://www.blazinggrace.org/cms/bg/warinthemind

This article had very well defined how I felt about things. Here's something I agreed with before. "Another example. I'm walking down the hall in our office building and notice a pretty young 20 year old girl approaching in my field of vision. Without locking onto her form, I can see she's wearing tight or revealing clothes, and I know I don't want to go there."

I used to think that way myself. But guess what. If you "notice a pretty young 20 year old", you already "went there". If a man truly loves his wife, there shouldn't be another woman to notice, there shouldn't be another pretty woman. A man's wife is not only the most beautiful woman in the world. That's not good enough. A man's wife is the ONLY beautiful woman in the world. A married man, and especially a married man who has committed adultery, has no room to notice other women, and how "pretty" they are. (In fact, a married man who IS noticing how "pretty" other women are, IS committing adultery.) Do you know that if you believe another woman is "pretty" that you're telling your wife that she's ugly?

Is this why the recovery period takes 3 to 5 years? Is it because it takes that long to convince the wives that certain aspects of lust are actually ok? Is that why all this counselling is needed? Let's say the wife actually is ok with her husband who has committed adultery against her to find other women pretty. Does even that make it ok? God's word says to delight in the wife of your youth, and that he who finds a wife finds a good thing, and to cling to that which is good, and abhor that which is evil, and to love our wives even as Christ loved the church. It's not ok to think that someone other than our wives are pretty (or any other word you could use for that). It's not ok even if the man hasn't looked at pornography, or masturbated, or slept with another woman, etc., because those are just actions manifested from what is in the heart. The sin is in the heart, whether it's manifested in actions or not.

I would think that someone who is trying to teach men how to help their wives heal from their adultery would go out of his way to let men know that NO other woman is pretty. It is NOT ok to think so, especially if the man has a history of pornography and masturbation addiciton.  Do you realize what, or WHO, you're having sex with, when you do that? It's not just yourself, it's not just wicked imaginations, it's not the "woman", or the "image" that's in your mind. It is an EVIL SPIRIT. Ever heard of Succubus? Incubus? Etc.? Do you think that they are a bunch of folklore? They are every bit REAL, believe me. I brought in evil spirits into our home by doing this very thing (thinking that it is ok to think that other women are pretty) . And this was after I had already confessed to pornography and masturbation, etc, and had stopped all that. I brought them in purely by seeing another woman as pretty. Unimaginably evil things were both said and done in my home because of it, and I am still trying to rid our home of them even now.

Is lust ever anything other than a spiritual matter? No. It really is idolatry; it really is adultery; it really is spiritual wickedness.

Any of you who are men and have committed adultery against your wife (as I have), if you have looked at any other woman and thought she was pretty, you need to own up to it, confess it, and pray against it, that God would cause you only to see your own wife as pretty, beautiful, lovely. DELIGHT in the wife of your youth. This means, DO NOT DELIGHT in a woman who is not your wife. You might say, "Well, just because I can tell that a woman's pretty doesn't mean I lusted after her." Are you delighting in your wife when you're determining that another woman is pretty? Don't kid yourself. Don't lie to yourself, or to your wife, or to God.

Pray, pray, pray, that God will give you both a hatred for your lust, and for the evil that is behind the lust, and hatred for the evil spirit that is behind every woman that you lust after, have lusted after, or "find pretty".  Renounce these evil spirits in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and by his blood, and pray against them EVERY DAY. (Assuming that you're saved.) Pray that God will give you a new heart and mind, and a desire for ONLY your wife; a desire so strong that it is impossible to even think that another woman is "pretty". Pray that God would give you a desire for Him that is so strong that NO SIN ever looks good to you either.  ABHOR that which is evil. CLING to that which is good. What is good? The Bible says that God is good, and also that he that findeth a wife findeth a good thing. There's your good. The Bible also says to delight in the Lord, and to delight in the wife of your youth. There's your delight. The Bible also says that a man is to love his wife even as Christ loved the church, and gave Himself for her; and that Christians are the bride of Christ. Everyone is either part of the bride, or part of the whore. Interesting, isn't it, how the Bible equates marriage between man and wife to God's relationship with His people? It even uses the very same exact words to describe each relationship.

Would you say about God, "Well this false god over here is nice, but I do love God more"? If you would, you don't love God. So also if you could say, "Well this woman over here is nice, but I do love my wife more", you don't love your wife. You aren't supposed to love God more than other gods. You are supposed to love God ONLY, with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. And you also aren't supposed to love your wife more than other women, you are supposed to love your wife ONLY.  Die to false gods, and live to God; and die to other women, and live to your wife.

May God have mercy on me a sinner, and to you as well.
