If you're falling into the same temptations, then maybe it's time not to do the same thing to deal with them. If you're struggling with what you're doing now, then what's the next step in recovery? What tools are out there that have been just slightly too scary to pick up yet? Is it time to pick them up now?
You ask for strength, and that's what we all start out wanting. I spent many years praying for strength. In the end, though, what has made a difference for me is not strength, but rather admitting in a deep way to God, to myself, and to those around me that I am not strong. In the 12-step program, the first step is an admission of powerlessness. That seems crazy, but a lot of people have gotten sober through that path, a path in which the road to victory begins with surrender.
Just how it seems to me.
