I have gone in and out of recovery for over 3 years and have never completely dedicated myself to it.  I have always been headstrong in the beginning but I always fall off after a short amount of time.  I have been to many meetings,  paid literally tens of thousands of dollars in intensive therapies.  Seen countless counselors.  Seen some of the pioneers in sexual addiction recovery.  I have not been successful.  The one thing I am looking for is a Christian outlook to this all.  I have been a Christian all my life,  brought up in a Christian home.  I am happy to have found this site and I pray for the strength and patience to see my recovery through.  Through Him all things are possible.  It is good to be here,  and I look forward to being open and honest,  and accountable to another kind of recovery.

It's good to meet you callingout. I can relate to your frustration. Various therapies and meetings will invariably fall short if we do not allow them to transform our essential character. That is where the Christ-centered approach differs in my view. Jesus always takes an inside-out approach; changing our heart, mind and subsequently our behaviors.

That is not to say that other programs cannot be beneficial. We addicts tend to be polarizers. We see things in rigid black-and-white and expect perfection of ourselves. This is not realistic because we aren't perfect! It is hard to take our acting out behaviors seriously while at the same thing not nailing ourselves to the wall when we slip up.

I would guess that you learned some worthwhile things in therapy and recovery meetings over the last few years. What are some of those things you want to be sure don't get left behind?

Welcome!

As you can see, this board is currently only averaging maybe one post a day, which means that despite all the wisdom of this site, it hardly offers the complete basis for recovery, though it can obviously be part of your plan.  Working face-to-face with people in real life is also critical, as well.  What are you doing to make Christian recovery happen in your real life away from the keyboard?

May you find the freedom you are seeking.
