This is part of my journal. I thought I would share it here. It begins with a Bible verse, then what God was saying to me about the verse. The "Tuesday guys" is my accountability group

Romans 14:23
But if you have doubts about whether or not you should eat something, you are sinning if you go ahead and do it. For you are not following your convictions. If you do anything you believe is not right, you are sinning.
Study notes say: God’s word defines sin for us, yet sin also involves violating our conscience.
When I first came to the Lord, I struggled with masturbation. Some told me the Bible didn’t deal with masturbation so it wasn’t a sin. I disagree and wish I would have known this verse then. I was sinning when I fell into the temptation of masturbation and still am. I need to ask forgiveness for this. I also need to be held accountable for this as well as pornography. Thank the Tuesday guys for bringing this to my attention and thank God for this verse confirming it!
If masturbation doesn’t bring lustful thoughts to the mind is it a sin? If it convicts you, YES! However, with me, it always brings lustful thoughts to mind. It is a sin for me and I need to clothe myself in Jesus to help me stop. Thank you God for the way out!
