The 2nd Chronicles 7:14 Project
If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:14
God provides us with four action steps to take if we want healing for our land. Many talk about 2nd Chronicles 7:14, but if we don’t do what this verse says, nothing will change. This will require a willingness to make adjustments to how we “do church” and how our relationship with God plays out if we’re serious.
The 2nd Chronicles 7:14 Project is a website written by Mike Genung that provides an action plan for individuals and churches to put 2nd Chronicles 7:14 into practice.
Following is an excerpt from the site:
2nd Chronicles 7:14 begins by designating those who God calls to begin the restoration process.
It is not persons outside of the church. It is those who know God; who are called “by His name.” We who are “beloved of the Lord” (2nd Thessalonians 2:13): His sons and daughters.
Thus, for the moment, our focus is not to be on the world or its sin. We take our eyes off of politics and current events. We drop the blame game for our country’s predicament. God has specific orders for His people, and He wants our attention. Those orders aren’t for the person who rejects God; His commands will stretch even those who love Him.
God will have us take a hard look at ourselves. He’ll hold up a spiritual mirror that will enable us to see all of the reflection of our heart.
We must pause all of our manic busyness to immerse ourselves in what God wants to do. This includes putting “ministry” on hold. I don’t mean we should quit our jobs and join a monastery, but that the things we do to “numb and distract” are shelved.
God is calling us to humble ourselves, pray, seek Him, and turn from our sin. It is to be a special time where we make obedience to God’s word the main focus of our lives. This is not sound–bite Christianity where we get a few polished, challenging words from the pulpit, and then move on. The Lord wants us to go deep. This will require time and effort… and will force us out of the Comfort Zone.
At this moment in history, the church will either shine like the brightest lighthouse in the darkest storm, or it will continue to allow itself to be worn down by the culture and fade away.
Knowledge isn’t enough; we must now do what 2nd Chronicles 7:14 says.
