Words to Feed On

By Mike Genung

When we’re hurting, or the wheels have come off and we feel lost and confused, a few words from God can bring encouragement, and help us to get back on track. Following is a collection of verses to feed on that might bring light to your day. As you read, remember that God’s promises are rock solid:

I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you.
Hebrews 13:5

The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:22-23

No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.
1 Corinthians 10:13

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9

When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions.
Colossians 2:13

But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 2:4-7

You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the Lord, and I will restore your fortunes and will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, declares the Lord, and I will bring you back to the place from where I sent you into exile.
Jeremiah 29:13-14

God.. gives grace to the humble.
1 Peter 5:5

After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.
1 Peter 5:10

Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, my lips will praise you.
Psalms 63:3

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.
Psalms 51:7

If You, Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand ? But there is forgiveness with You, that You may be feared.
Psalms 130:3

Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Behold, all those who are angered at you will be shamed and dishonored; Those who contend with you will be as nothing and will perish. You will seek those who quarrel with you, but will not find them, Those who war with you will be as nothing and non-existent. For I am the LORD your God, who upholds your right hand, Who says to you, ‘Do not fear, I will help you.’
