wow, men need to stop objectifying women/females period! men need to sensor themselves. this conversation is putting the responsibility on women/females as if they are the problem and what they wear. men are the problem in how they have degraded another human being, it’s abusive to lust after someone period. it’s abusive to take something from someone without their consent and this falls into that category. the narrative must change for boys/men & women to stop looking at the problem in this way. if men/boys can control themselves from viewing their mother, sister, grandmother, daughter in this way then they can do it for other females that cross their paths… major church religious injury going on here!!!

  1. In plenty of my other shows I’ve mentioned that men are responsible for not lusting (Matthew 5), including a show that will be coming out soon, just as women are held accountable to appropriate dress (1 Timothy 2). Both sides are accountable to God for their choices.
  2. We’ve received requests from women to talk openly about yoga pants and similar dress and what is appropriate because it’s rarely discussed in church.
  Some women have told us they’re triggered when other women dress inappropriately.
  3. We’ve had women who, after conversations like these, say they will cease to wear revealing clothing. This again goes back to the lack of talking openly about the topic in churches. I’ve seen women wearing yoga pants on stage in church with the worship band. I’m guessing you would agree that kind of dress in church isn’t appropriate.
  4. Lastly, we’ve done a lot to give women a voice in this arena especially when it comes to the spiritual abuse they’ve endured when people blame them for their husband’s porn addiction. The ladies we interviewed would agree to this.

Hi Deana, If I can try to put this into a different perspective for you as one of the wives on the panel from this conversation; a significant number of people are binging on pornography all day, every day to the point that it has become an addiction and has changed the way they think and interact with the public. They can’t control themselves, that is the point. For those individuals lustful looking is their “drug of choice” and even in recovery triggers are everywhere from billboards to coffee shops. This is not about blaming, its about admitting weakness, asking for help and taking responsibility. Nothing about addiction is fair and anyone who has experienced shame, abuse or trauma because of an addiction, their own or someone else’s, knows the desire of the enemy to turn our spirit away from God. I am truly sorry that you have wounds from the church and for causing you any pain during the course of our conversation, that was never the intention. Thank you for speaking up and sharing your thoughts.
